The Alchemist

The book is about the challenges of leaving the comfortable and known places and moving around looking for your real mission in life and getting to self-fulfillment. The plot follows a teenage boy, Santiago who pursues his dreams and travels around and meets many people and places, learns from every place or person something that affects his development and progress in life.



The adventure of looking for the treasure starts in Andalusia and ends at the same place, Santiago did this circular journey to discover at the end that whatever he looked for was next to him all along.

During the journey, the character learns a lot about himself and feels connected to his feeling and progress and learn a lot from every character he meets on his way. He meets the woman who interprets his dream, the king and the alchemist.

The whole journey led to where Santiago came from and himself.
The tools for our mission is inside us and we only need to look and see it. This is the biggest theme of this book and this story.

Another theme from this story is the importance of going after our dreams in life and learn from everybody we meet on our way for our own development and progress in life.

The book is all about progress in life that you get to some places and meet different people in life for a reason, in the book the reason was to follow the dream and decoding the dream that led Santiago to the places and people he got to or meet.

  1. I read this book many years ago and I still remember that I loved the story and the depth of the themes.I read other books of the same author Paulo Coelho but the Alchemist was the best of them!
